Situated in the heart of a war-torn region, the safety of its persecuted Christian inhabitants is paramount. Matthew's latest project proposal embodies this concern, aiming to establish a local market that would spare villagers the perilous journey through conflict zones for basic necessities. By bringing essential goods closer to home, we not only ensure the physical safety of the community but also nurture a sense of resilience and self-sufficiency. In our new mission location in the vibrant village of Filandia, Colombia, we are privileged to collaborate with Eyson and Karson, the visionary leaders of Fundacion Pioneros. At the core of their impactful work is a commitment to youth empowerment through fundamental programming, including youth group, Bible teachings, and a promising leadership programs. Our first joint endeavor, the Student Leadership Retreat, served as a catalyst for igniting the vision and dreams of the youth, fostering resilience in overcoming challenges, and nurturing a deep connection with God. Amidst the prevalent threats of poverty, familial difficulties, and the pervasive dangers of sex and drug trafficking in the surrounding areas, the importance of our work is underscored.
